The Bandwagoner: Edition 2

For Chicago, the month of March kicks off the Chicago race calendar.  It is the month when the snow HOPEFULLY finally melts and the snow boots are exchanged for running shoes.  Bandwagon Champs outlines the top 5 Chicago races for the month.

1.  Bank of America Shamrock Shuffle - 3/25/18

Chicago's Shamrock Shuffle is an 8K race and one of the best races of the year.  This is such a fun race because it is downtown-focused and starts and ends at Grant Park near Chicago's amazing lakefront.  Everyone in Chicago is Irish on the Shamrock Shuffle race day.

2.  St. Paddy's Day 5K and 8K run / walk - 3/17/18

The St. Paddy's Day 5K and 8K is home to Lincoln Park.  The Chicago race starts across the street from Chicago's Nature Museum, heads north to Irving Park Road then turns around to finish by Fullerton Ave.  Everybody is Irish at this race.  Participants are encouraged to wear green Chicago t shirts while they run.

3.  Get Lucky Half Marathon 14K and 7K - 3/17/18

This year marks the 10th annual Get Lucky Chicago Race.  All participants get a Lucky hoodie or pullover.  This Irish Chicago race starts south of the Shedd Aquarium and heads south thru Jackson Park down to 67th Street.

4.  Bunny Rock Chicago 5K Run / Walk - 3/31/18

This Easter themed Chicago race starts and ends at Montrose Harbor.  The Red Door Animal Shelter is the official partner of the 2018 Bunny Rock Chicago.  Participants of this Chicago race receive a shirt, bunny ears, sunglasses, bib, and a medal.  This is a great event to do with your kids.

5.  March4Meg 5K Run / Walk - 3/31/18

This Chicago race passes thru Chicago's south side Irish neighborhood, Evergreen Park.  This 5K caters to all levels of competitive runners and walkers and supports the efforts to stop melanoma.
